Our
course gives you valuable experience and knowledge, a taster of
what journalism is about whilst equipping you with writing skills. By
completing the course, you demonstrate that you have achieved
a grounding in journalism to support applications. It records that
students are competent and
have valuable experience in areas of journalism taught by the course.
Students can move onto a degree course through universities
or apply for a job as a junior reporter with the distinct advantage of having valuable experience and a good level
of knowledge under your belt.
And there are many people for whom
home-study is the only method of learning with the distinct advantage of being able to enrol at any
time to suit you.
And you can work at your own pace - not one
dictated by others. To give you a guide, each module can take
3-6 hours to complete and the whole course completed within 12
months, although it often takes less depending on the time you
are able to commit.
This course is suitable for anyone interested in journalism,
including:
- An under-graduate wishing to pursue a career in journalism,
but wishing to gain an insight into the industry first or gain
experience and a basic qualification to further enhance chances
of employment upon graduation.
- A post-graduate wishing to move into journalism with little
or no experience and/or journalism-specific qualifications.
- Non-graduates who are unable to commit to a degree
course but who wish to pursue a career in journalism.
- Newly-employed trainee reporters wishing to gain further experience
in journalistic writing, law and public administration.
- Anyone on an undecided career path where journalism is an
option but where the student wishes to gain an insight before
committing themselves to studying full-time or for a longer
period.
- Those wishing to carve out a career as a freelance journalist
and who have little or no experience and/or journalism-specific
qualifications.
- Self-employed or working in the public relations and business
field who wish to improve marketing, report-writing and presentational
skills.
- Students from all over the world who wish to embark on a new
career, gain a qualification, change direction or pursue an
interest.
There are no entry requirements but students should be self-motivated
to follow a programme of home-study and be able to demonstrate a satisfactory standard of
English, grammar and punctuation. Students are of mixed ability and all ages. |
